More To Step Down

More Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Joint Opposition members are to resign from their SLFP organizer posts.

Joint Opposition sources said that eleven SLFP organizers in the Joint Opposition are to resign from their posts over the next few weeks.

Among those expected to resign are Parliamentarians Ranjith de Zoysa, Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Kumara Welgama. When contacted by The Sunday Leader, Ranjith de Zoysa said that some of the organizers have already decided to step down.

The Parliamentarian said that the decision to step down was taken after the party leadership removed some SLFP district organizers are replaced them with unsuitable party members.

Former Ministers Bandula Gunawardena and Dullas Alahapperuma had recently resigned in protest over the removal of SLFP district organizers in the Joint Opposition. (AW)
