CIABOC Was Investigating 90 Politicians Before DG Resigned

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) was investigating 90 politicians at the time its Director General Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe resigned.

Wickramasinghe told The Sunday Leader that no files were closed as claimed by some politicians nor was the Commission politicised.

“There are 90 politicians who are being investigated. It does not mean that I am going to close all the files.

Those files are still with the investigations unit and investigations are underway.

No one can say that we are not investigating some cases or closing down the files of other politicians.

Investigations have not concluded and that is the only reason why cases are not yet filed on these complaints.

I have not filed action against Wimal Weerawansa and Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

Does that mean that the files are being closed down?” she questioned.

She said that when complaints are received the documents are sent to the investigation unit as they control the investigations and then the legal officers go through the documents and recommend charges.

“I do not select any investigation by favour nor do I interfere with the investigations,” she said. Dilrukshi Dias Wickremesinghe had last week tendered her resignation from her post as Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

She submitted her resignation just days after President Maithripala Sirisena warned that he will be compelled to take action against politicising the Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID), Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The President had said he had conveyed this message to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The President’s statement drew strong reactions from civil society and some political parties in the opposition.

Actually, the president Mithribal Srisena has politicized by accusing the commission without base. If he has proves, then he should provide publicly or courts actions against officers. If not, he thinks that he owe thanks to MR and GR because he spent time with them in ups and down. If that so, Sri Lankans have elected a wrong person to fight against crimes and corruptions that committed by the previous regime. President’s statement is a threat or intermediation toward those working in these commissions. By making public statements without a proof, president has lost his credibility. He should resign. Does the president have authority over these commissions or they are independent? It seems that only war criminals are acting independently without any interference. It is not the wary democracy works.

This is not a political game this corrupt & disgraceful so called politicians looking after their own interest and their family’s friends and cronies.

AS of now Sri Lank is completely devoid of honest, pragmatic so called politician who would be honorable enough to put their self-inters ahead of the country and its people.
Now almost all politicians in the counter have got the taste of the ever bulging free lunch with its trappings & babbles of office future is looking grime.
This is not unique to Sri Lanka it’s all around the world case in point in US two individuals running for the leader ship is most distrusted in the history of the country. In the case of Hillary Clinton whop wouldn’t know the meaning of the word truth hit her on her face is ably supported by incumbent leader Obama & his wife who made so many disparaging remarks in the past of her and her womanizing husband Bill.
MS & RW got things to hide mainly for family and friends & cahoots to look after and make sure they don’t get caught in the guillotine of Law & Justice.
Some Sri Lankan public worships Rajapaksa’s, Sirisena’s, Wickramasinhe’s, Weerawansa’s even a Terrorist Kaurna’s, unfortunatly they deserve what the get. These people prove the point “sucker born every minute”. As well as “you can fool some people of the all the time.”
