They may be novice monks ( or samaneras as they are called) but they are humans and boys in common language with similar interests as others of their age. I cannot see anything wrong in this or monks driving vehicles for that matter.
My main concern is that they must NOT deviate from their objective of growing up to be a fully fledged monk and as the disciples of Buddhism to spread peace and tolerance and NOT hatred and racism as we see nowadays the activities of some monks disgracing the saffron cloth and the teachings of Buddhism and spreading
evil to all faiths.
I am still keen to know the where from did these guys appear?
What is there alma mater (the pansala) where they had their training ?
Do they have a lineage ?
Why are the Nayaka Thero’s silent on their behaviour.
Why is the government and the Police turning a blind eye to the continuing blatant violations of the law
These monks are wolves in sheep’s clothing and a law unto themselves which gives the general public the opinion that they are sponsored by the government.
Hay, do not take this as a violation of anything. You cannot judge a monk by this picture or act. They may be very disciplined and you never know more about them. However if all the monks start playing cricket at temples that will be a problem and Nayaka Theros are there to keep them under control. It is not our job to judge them.
Most of these types of Priests ordained Bukkhuhood without much understanding of deep teaching of Buddhism. However they slowly and steadily learn and practice of buddhism as they understood the path when they grow.
However these are all human beings in the age like these they need to play and involve in creations.Otherwise they will become so aggressive when they grow up.This is all about childhood, though they become Monks. We salute those who understand this.

However they are all human beings, like other children who would like to play and involve in recreation work in the age like this. This is a universal truth.Otherwise they will become so aggressive when they grow up.This is all about childhood, though they become Monks like this.We salute those who understand this.
the human face of young novitiates — if only these monks can play a cricket match against their hindu counterparts sri lanka may be a better piece of the world to live in.
I cannot understand why media wanted to publish this type of isolated events? Are all novice monks play cricket? They have study times and free times so it is not a criminal act, being the novice monks are still very young.
But comparing to large scale child molesting by priests in some other religions, these stories has no importance.
