Some UNPers To Sit As Independent MPs

by Ashanthi Warunasuriya

A group of United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarians are to sit as independent MPs in Parliament, sources said.

The UNP MPs have reportedly decided to obtain the backing of party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe for the move.

UNP sources said that the MPs are of the view that by being independent, they can raise concerns on some UNP Ministers and protect the name of the party.

  1. Frustrated Voter

If this happens, who will remain as Party stalwarts in a the UNP ? It is only the
    rogues and also- rans.!

  2. Whether independent or not first stop your misdemeanours of stealing about 40% out of the decentralized budget, receiving payments for sittings and housing rents , using your own family members as your staff, and also doing government contracts using ploys. The whole Parliament is a den of corrupted persons. Before questioning the ministers please keep to the norms of honesty without challenging people to prove your corruptions. Can anyone swear by the God Katargama or at Seenigam devalkaya that he has not earned wealth through corruption.

  3. UNP not doing anything, leader of party must remove. if not UNP will not going win the local government election ,undefinably election postponed. due to lack of confendancs,

This is a stupid idea only gutless people can do this like the independents, whom once late Colvin R. de Silva called ‘double headed donkeys’
