by Ranjith Gunawardena

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is to hold key talks with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the proposed new Constitution.

JVP Parliamentarian Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that the JVP political bureau had decided to take part in the talks with the government.

He said that the talks will mainly focus on a political solution for the ethnic issue which is to be devised through the new Constitution.

Meanwhile, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) hopes to meet the joint opposition to discuss the proposed new Constitution.

The TNA hopes to seek the backing of the joint opposition led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for the new Constitution and a political solution for the Tamils.
