Some Countries Issue Travel Advisory On Sri Lanka

Some countries have issued travel advisories on Sri Lanka following the severe flooding which affected the country last week.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in a travel advise monsoon rains had caused widespread flooding, leading to displacement of people, injuries and deaths.

“Heavy rains and landslips have also led to road closures affecting local transport links. See the Sri Lanka Disaster Management Centre website for the latest updates on flooding and seek local advice before travelling to affected areas”, “the travel advise on Sri Lanka issued by the UK said.

Meanwhile the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs advised travelers of flooding and landslides throughout the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Western provinces of Sri Lanka.

“Further heavy rain is forecast. Be aware of flash flooding and expect disruptions to services and traffic congestion. Follow the advice of local authorities and contact your travel provider for further information. We continue to advise Australians to exercise normal safety precautions in Sri Lanka,” the travel advise said.
