Mount Lavinia Hotel Shines At Culinary Art 2017

Mount Lavinia Hotel (MLH) bagged 24 medals at the recently held Culinary Art 2017, the premier culinary competition, organized by the Chefs Guild of Lanka.

Talented chefs from around the country took part in the event before world’s most successful chefs who judged the winners.

A felicitation ceremony was held at MLH recently to honour the winners. The winners from Team MLH are;

Nirankara Niridu Fernando won Gold for Artistic Pastry Showpiece (Sugar), 3 Silver Medals for Wedding Cake Structures, Artistic Showpiece and Individual Ice Carving; and 2 Bronze Medals for Butter Sculpture and Fruit & Vegetable Carving.

Dilakshi Kodikara won Gold for Apprentice Desserts Live.

K. R. D. Rajitha Won Gold for New Sri Lankan Cuisine while Laxman Karunaratne won Silver under the same category.

Manoj Ranathunga won 2 Silver Medals for Artistic Showpiece and Individual Ice Carving; and a Bronze for Artistic Chocolate Showpiece.

Kavindu Gavesh won 2 Bronze medals for Butter Sculpture and Individual Ice Carving.

Nadeesha Athukorala won Bronze for Apprentice Hot Cooking Live, while Sameera Madushanka won Bronze for Fruit & Vegetable Carving.

Supun Udayakumara, Kanchana Bandara and Samith Niroshan Kandadeniya won a Bronze medal each, under the Dress the Cake category.

Wasana Udayakumara won Bronze for Plated Appetizers, while K. K. A. P. Ranathunga won Bronze for 5 Course Set Dinner Menu.

The event featured 1,700 chefs from 165 hotels vying for the various culinary accolades in the competition.
