Joint opposition suspects attempt to postpone polls

The joint opposition suspects there is an attempt to postpone the Local Government (LG) elections.

Sources said that the joint opposition had discussed the possibility of the Government making a last minute attempt to prevent the polls from being held in February.

The joint opposition has been informed that the Government has sought legal advise to push the polls back.

The Local Government election is to be held on February 10.

Crossovers have already begun ahead of the election and more crossovers are expected closer to the date.

Meanwhile, the Government is under fire from trade unions over various issues while the cost of living is also threatening to place the Government under pressure closer to the elections.
