PURA Luxury Resort Villas to change landscape on the East Coast

Ideal Developments Canada and Pura Resorts Canada announced the first ever international FDI into Sri Lanka’s east coast with 50 luxury resort chalets and 62 luxury island homes built for completion by April 2020 on the pristine beaches of Nilaveli, Trincomalee.  PURA Luxury Resort Villas is the very first project being launched in Sri Lanka by this Canadian investor in Sri Lanka.

Ideal Developments is a multi-faceted company that develops residential and commercial real estate throughout Greater Toronto as well as internationally intending to maximise peace, luxury, tranquility and nature at this coastal retreat through conceptual luxury that is unique in design and unparalleled in features.

Gaining its name through multiple meanings, PURA means pure in Spanish, temple in Malay and Indonesian, settlement or town in Sinhala and Sanskrit and conjures authentic experiences in English taking ‘pure’ as its nucleus.  PURA Luxury Resort Villas denotes untouched, unspoiled luxury, perfected by nature.  Says Managing Director of Pura Resorts Inc and Director of Corporate Affairs Ideal Group Sri Nithya Omkarananda, “Our entire concept is built around having five star resorts and vacation resorts in destinations that have untouched beauty – raw, virgin surrounds – lush greenery and large trees that form the backdrop to oceans, waterfalls and rivers, basically, offering nature, paradise, luxury, joy and inspiration.”  He adds that Ideal Developments which is founded by Sri Lankan Shaji Nada, collates design-forward strategies to create exceptional projects that showcase leading-edge architecture and technology, boasting an impressive portfolio of upscale custom luxury homes.

This maiden project for Ideal Developments and Pura Resorts, a subsidiary of the Ideal Group, embraces contemporary architecture as a striking counterpoint to this natural palette which thrives in a jungle milieu and coastal canvas.  The 62 spacious vacation villas at PURA come in three and four bedroom layouts, each featuring expansive gardens, light-filled interiors, parking, private swimming pool and glass-walled living and dining areas blurring the line between indoor and outdoor space with complete privacy. All this within a unique setting just steps from the Indian ocean, with spectacular beachfront views.  “For us, it’s about creating sustainable mixed-use properties in the hospitality industry both in Canada and around the world with each PURA site offering the experience of luxury and nature in its purest form.”

Renowned Architect Philip Weeraratne, whose signature design fundamental is in seamlessly blending the outdoors with the interior, articulated that maintaining the central theme of nature is an integral facet and utmost care is being taken to preserve the existing trees and landscape.  “The natural stream that runs through the site is incorporated into the design, sometimes even meandering through guest rooms, while large expanses of the site remains as preserved jungle,” he says.  “The material palette stays true to the overall theme, combining a visual richness and tactile stimuli, drawing the guest into the property’s folds with the textual richness of cement floor finishes, timber, rubble walls and clay shingles.”

The project which will also be launched in Canada, UK and Australia in February, will, when completed become an exclusive part of the prestigious PURA resort community brand, which PURA Management manages as vacation villas for the owners.  Omkara explains that the properties are included into the resort rental pool when unoccupied by the owner, generating revenues, while also enabling Sri Lankan expatriates to have a second home, without the hassle of finding suitable property and constructing it.  “Here at PURA, we take care of everything, providing villa owners with a branded service home, away from home.”
