Ousting a corrupt regime

The night of December 5, 2001 saw Chandrika Kumaratunga's worst nightmare come to life. The run up to the election had been unlike any of the previous eleven, with regard to the loss of which the president so often derisorily refers to her adversary, Ranil Wickremesinghe. Ranil sworn in as PM today

The United National Front leader Ranil Wickremasinghe will be sworn in as prime minister today. Wickremasinghe was scheduled to meet with President Chandrika Kumaratunga on Saturday evening at 5pm following an invitation by the president to discuss the logistics of swearing in the new UNF government.
