Cabinet woes of Chandrika

Toilet coup’ in PA says Fowzie

Former Transport Minister and Colombo District MP, A.H.M.Fowzie says a coup is being engineered within the Peoples’ Alliance (PA) led by a former minister from the south to separate President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakse.


Mothers from the north-east took to the streets of Colombo last week crying that their sons and daughters have been either abducted by the armed forces or killed. They demanded the UNF government to immediately take action to get their children back

Tilanga stumped by AG

The whole sordid drama over Tilanga Sumathipala attending the Executive Committee meeting  of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in London reached a climax on Friday (21) with the attorney general ruling that it would not be legal for Sumathipala to attend.

What is deplorable is the manner in which the Sports Ministry and its Minister Johnston Fernando are trying to interfere in the game of cricket by trying to illegally accommodate the former Cricket Board President Tilanga Sumathipala to represent the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) at the ICC meeting.

Fortunately, Attorney General K. C. Kamalasabeyson has stood firm and refused to bow to political pressure.
