PA’s ‘out-coup’ to oust PM bared

A master plan by the People’s Alliance to undermine the peace process and oust Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe through a constitutional coup by President Chandrika Kumaratunga has been bared.

The written plan unearthed by The Sunday Leader deals extensively on a systematic sabotaging of government activity and the sequence of events leading to the ouster of Prime Minister Wickremesinghe.


Pakistan President General Pervez Musharaff who pledged fullest support for the peace process, during his visit to Sri Lanka, is enjoying a joke with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during their meeting last week

CID to quiz CBK on 007 handbag

The controversy over a covert ladies handbag complete with a hidden hi-tech video camera took a new twist last week with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) exploring criminal misappropriation of property charges against President Chandrika Kumaratunga and her Security Advisor, T. V. Sumanasekara.

Investigators will probe if the president herself committed the offence of criminal misappropriation and/or criminal breach of trust, although legally the president cannot be charged for any offence as she enjoys immunity from the law.
