Govt., LTTE in prisoner
swap

The historic detainee swap between the government and the LTTE took place
yesterday in no-man’s land at Omanthai, with both parties hailing the
exchange as a watershed in peace negotiations.
The
LTTE released seven armed forces personnel in its custody while the
government released 13 LTTE suspects. Two of the LTTE suspects were
handed over to relatives in Colombo.

Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Minister, Dr.
Jayalath Jayawardena is privy to the decision making of questionable
multi million rupee transactions involving the renovation of the
market complex at Chavakachcheri; secretly negotiating an MoU with the
LTTE backed TRO; and illegally opening a RRAN office in Negombo,
despite the fact that RRAN as an authority on the orders of the prime
minister and cabinet has been dissolved.
