The
festive spirit has taken over the country which has savoured the once
unthinkable luxury of peace for one full year. Streets have been lit up
all over Colombo and Christmas carolling groups have been touring Jaffna
by night. After a prolonged period, Santa Claus it seems is bestowing
his goodies on the country at last. Quite in tune, this plastic Santa
was caught beckoning revellers near the colourfully lit roundabout near
St. Bridget’s Convent, Col. 7

Call
for “Independent” Muslim representation
By
Dilrukshi Handunnetti
The
eastern based Muslim politicians are demanding the inclusion of
“distinct and independent” Muslim representation at the next
round of peace talks if the government intends retaining Ports
Development Minister Rauf Hakeem as a permanent member of the government
peace negotiating team.
