Standard
Chartered Fort branch inaugurated
REGIONAL
General Manager, Standard Chartered Bank in the Middle East and South
Asia (excluding India), David Edwards visited Sri Lanka to inaugurate
the refurbished Fort branch.
The
Fort branch will be the first in Sri Lanka to conform to Standard
Chartered's new international standards. The re-branding which began
last year has been fully integrated into this new branch. The branch
stands as a clear reflection of the values for which the bank stands
and the energy with which they dedicate their efforts to improving
financial services to their customers.
Edwards
noted, "This great new branch expresses our deep commitment to
the values for which we stand, and the energy with which we dedicate
our efforts to improving financial services to our customers."
"As
a region, the Middle East and South Asia are a major part of the
group's business and focus, and Sri Lanka is a key part of our
presence in this region. As the bank celebrates our 150th anniversary
this year, I am very pleased to be here and looking forward
to our next 150 years with you in Sri Lanka."
Renovating
branches is only part of many upcoming investments. The completion of
the successful integration of ANZ Grindlays was the beginning and this
is now being followed with a series of investments to expand the
bank's presence and service to customers.
Today,
the bank is also re-launching the Standard Chartered Gold Credit Card
with its additional privileges and later this year, a state of art
banking software platform will be introduced which will place Sri
Lanka on par with the group's international standards.
The
Central Bank has also recently granted its approval to open a new
branch, which will be completed later this year. These investments are
a clear statement of the bank's commitment to invest and grow its
business in Sri Lanka.
As
a region, the Middle East and South Asia are a key part of the group's
business and focus. The bank has been a part of many of the
communities in this region for more than 50 years. In Sri Lanka,
Standard Chartered Bank has the honor of being the first bank and to
have served customers in this community for more than 110 years.
