The suspect - a former employee

Speaking to The Sunday Leader, OIC Crimes, Slave Island Police, IP J. M. K. Banduthilake said the police found Cader's body with stab wounds in the left part of his neck, lying in a pool of blood at his two storied house down Java Lane in Slave Island on early Tuesday (12) morning. After initial investigations the police are currently on the look-out for a man who had earlier worked for Cader at his Galle Face food outlet. According to police sources the suspect has been seen by a number of people in the neighbourhood while he was running out of Cader's house with money and the knife used for the stabbing. The suspect is believed to be a disgruntled former employee of Cader's who left around five months ago. According to witnesses one of Cader's employees had wrestled with the suspect when he reached the front door. The suspect had taken off dropping the knife and the money outside Cader's house. According to information received, this man is a drug addict and is constantly on the look-out for money to buy drugs. "At this stage we believe the motive for the killing to be a personal grudge with the victim," said Banduthilake.
