Restrictions imposed on SLMM officials lifted

The restrictions imposed on the members of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) to visit Kurangupanjan (Manirasakkulam) camp have now been lifted, sources from Trincomalee said.

Earlier the SLMM was debarred from visiting the camp. SLMM officials said that they were denied access to the camp.

However last week the LTTE relaxed its restrictions and allowed SLMM officials access to the camp.

Action against obstruction

E.A.D.Perera, a resident of Lake Gardens, Rajagiriya has filed action in the District Court of Colombo seeking right of way, presently being obstructed by another resident, Badra Wimalasekera also of Lake gardens, Rajagiriya.

Perera has requested the Kotte Municipal Council to take action to remove the gate obstructing his right of way.

Meanwhile FJ&G de Saram, a legal firm has said that the Kotte Municipal Council does not require a ruling from court if Wimalasekera has contravened municipal laws.

The matter is pending in the District Court.
