Kotelawala acquitted

Chairman, Seylan Bank, Lalith Kotelawala, General Manager, Rohini Nanayakkara, Deputy Chairman, Rajkumar Renganathan, Director, Bandula Ranaweera and Henry Lucien Mendis who were accused in a private plaint in connection with alleged misappropriation of shares of Blue Diamond Jewellery Worldwide Limited were acquitted and discharged by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Sarath. C. Karunaratne due to there being no adequate facts to maintain the case.

The private plaint was filed by former Deputy Chairman,  Seylan Bank and former Managing Director, Blue Diamonds Jewellery, Daya Senanayake alleging that the accused had without authority sold shares of Gold Lada Company, which had been pledged to Ceylinco Consolidated interalia.

Ranjith Abeysuriya PC instructed by Abdeen Associates appeared for Daya Senanayake. Romesh De Silva PC with Ransiri Fernando, Harsha De Alwis and Sudath Caldera appeared for Kotelawala.
