It was the delightful Wilde who once flicked his Chrysanthemum buttonhole and remarked airily that all women become like their mothers, that is their tragedy. No man does and that is theirs. Which progenitor you take after darling is beyond me. But then when the family gene pool is such as it is, one is compelled to wonder, as one often does in the immediate aftermath of one of your spicier, fruitier television appearances, whether such theorising would serve any purpose.
