Up in arms:  Shop owners and vendors in Pettah launched a massive protest against the Colombo mayor last week, when the acting mayor of Colombo ordered police to break down all unauthorised shops and kiosks in the area. Environment Minister, A. H. M. Fowzie was also against this move and is reported to have called DIG Colombo and requested him to stop the demolition
