kidnapped by white van.So these ministers will eventually give in & vote for repeal
of 13th amendment.
This might be another trick of MaRa & Co. to test the mindset of ministers, so he is
using Douglas. Or this could be Douglas’ trick to fool the people of the North to become chief minister.

While these innocent people were fighting, the so called foreign supporters of these people as she says educate and feed their kids and themselves with best of everything. Hypocrites is not the word for these diasporas. Absolute cruel selfish people. They are the supporters of a Terrorist who had taken the centre stage in Australia with a UK journalist and a prominent UN Supporter. What more can we expect from the Tamils who live in Foreign Lands.

Another good analysis by Jehan Perera. The anti-Tamil nature of the Sri Lankan state existed before the war, during the war and continues after the war ended. This position has the support of majority of Sri Lankans and is well-entrenched in the society. Remember, Tamil-bashing is a vote winner. So, the killing of Tamils has to be celebrated.
All countries have made mistakes in the past but only the civilised ones recognise their mistakes and learn from them and attempt to make amends. That will never happen with Sri Lanka.

It is unusual for a Diplomat to “step out” like that but this is not the first instance that has happened. She made a similar move a few days ago. This begs the question about governance in Sri Lanka.

Why hasn’t the government spoken to her? At least the late President Premadasa gave “persona non grata” to the British High Commissioner but Great Britain did not do tit for tat – there would have been a valid reason.

This is because of the policy of this government – “running with hare and hunting with hound”. Get loans from China and sell all sovereign bonds to the US or hold the US citizenship for personal benefit and let the country go to the Dogs.

It is a very interesting question. You have also “forgotten” to mention China which is a “success” story for militarization.

In Sri Lanka how else does one re-activate a moribund public service ? The railways and the co-operative system which could be so beneficial to the people not to mention profitable to the state will never work unless the military intervenes. Even the wild life protection service needs military help.

However as in ALL cases the leadership matters. If the officers who won the war can remain patriotic in the true sense of the word, we have a chance but should it turn the other way, the consequences will be much worse.
